May 9th will mark
150 years since Sycamore was incorporated as a village.
Sycamore has its
origins in a claim established on the north bank of the Kishwaukee
River, which was called the Sycamore River, in 1835. In 1858
Sycamore was incorporated as a village and in 1869 the community was
organized as a City.
To commemorate the
sesquicentennial, a volunteer committee has been established to
celebrate our past, present and future.
The following sub-committees
are meeting and welcome ideas and suggestions that lend themselves to a
truly community celebration of Sycamore's 150th: History, Events,
Opening and Closing, Fundraising and Marketing. If you are
interested in serving on a sub-committee or volunteering to assist at an
event, please call 815-895-6746.
