Leaf Pick-up Program

2007

The 2007 Leaf Pickup Program will begin on Monday, October 15, 2007. It will end on Thursday, November 29, 2007. The City will keep one machine in each section during the entire pick-up period.

In order to make this program a success, your cooperation is required. Please take note of the following:

1. Even though the machines are working in your Section, it DOES NOT mean they will be on your street every day. Pick-up will be done on a rotating basis with pick-ups being done as often as possible. We are unable to tell you what day we will be on your street. The City CANNOT guarantee that all leaves placed at the curb near the end of the program will be picked up. For this reason, we ask your cooperation in raking early.

2. To assure pick-up, have your leaves raked out to the edge of the street, NOT IN THE STREET!

Vehicles blocking piles of leaves will prevent them from being picked up.

3. Avoid raking leaves near catch basins, culvert pipes or into ditches. This can cause severe flooding problems in the event of heavy rain.

4. Rake leaves into loose piles, along the edge of the curb. Leaves placed in the street can cause safety problems for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

5. No leaves containing branches, brush, grass clippings, animal waste or other debris will be picked up because they clog the vacuum tubes and damage machines.

6. In the event of unusual weather conditions, City crews may fall behind: however, every effort will be made to pick up all leaves that are raked to the curb.

7. Do not wait until all your leaves have fallen before beginning to rake. We encourage residents to rake early and rake often.

8. Waste Management still has their curbside yard waste collection until the end of November. If you choose, leaves may be placed in a biodegradable Kraft paper bag, or a dedicated container marked landscape waste only (plastic bags are not acceptable). There is a 50-pound weight limit. Bags will be pickup on your regularly scheduled collection day.
