Turning Back Time Car Show Continues to Give Back
to the Community
September 23, 2010-The City of
Sycamore
would like to thank the Turning Back Time Car Club for their generous donation
of $4,000 to the Sycamore Police Department.
The proceeds were raised as part of the club’s annual Fizz Ehrler
Memorial Car Show held this year on Sunday July 25th in downtown
Sycamore. Car show steering
committee member, Chuck Criswell, presented Sycamore Police Chief
Don Thomas with the donation at the City Council meeting on
September 20. Chief Thomas said
that the donation will allow the Police Department to purchase investigative
supplies that the City was unable to budget for due to economic constraints.
Having just completed its eleventh show, the Fizz Ehrler
Memorial Car Show is a big draw for local residents and car enthusiasts alike.
Filling downtown Sycamore along State Street, this
year’s Car Show included over 1,000 classic cars and vintage hotrods.
Proceeds raised from the event are donated to local public and
not-for-profit organizations, including the Sycamore Food Pantry, the Fizz
Ehrler Scholarship, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Kishwaukee Cancer Center,
and the Sycamore Police Department.
The Car Show is a part of the Turning Back Time weekend in Sycamore, which also
includes a Saturday evening “cruise night” parade of classic cars.
